Biography

James Albertson was born in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. He received his B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, and his M.F.A. from the California College of Arts and Crafts. He has been featured in solo exhibitions at John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis and Joseph Chowning Gallery in San Francisco. His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions, including The Lighter Side of Bay Area Figuration and the exhibition ‘Bad’ Painting at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. His work is included in the collections of the Mills College Art Museum, the Oakland Museum of California, and the Yale University Museum. (SJMA Collections Committee, 2000)
